2021 Short Back & Sidewalks Year in Review
As 2021 wraps up we want to take a look back at the year that we’ve had, including the many ups and downs that COVID-19 has brought.
Despite extended lockdowns that saw the temporary suspension of our east coast services, we’ve delivered regular services in Western Australia across 2021, giving over 400 haircuts and starting nearly 500 conversations and connections.
All of this was made possible through our incredible team of frontline and admin volunteers generously giving over 3,000 hours of their time this year to Short Back & Sidewalks. To each and every person volunteering, we want to say a heartfelt thank you.
Our success is also due to our wonderful and generous donors who have supported us to continue delivering services to people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage. We have been fortunate to receive over $30,000 in donations in 2021, alongside product donations, both of which have helped us greatly in giving haircuts free of charge and free of judgement.
We’ve also had our very own founder, Craig Hollywood, win Western Australia Local Hero in the 2022 Australian of the Year Awards. A huge congratulations to Craig for the WA win, and we will be cheering loudly as you hit the national stage for the 2022 Australian of the Year finals in Canberra on January 25.
Wishing you all a very happy holidays and New Year. We’re excited for another huge year in 2022 and to bring you on our journey.
