Christmas Lunch in the Park by Mission Australia
Christmas Lunch in the Park by Mission Australia is the country’s longest running and largest community funded Christmas event designed specifically for those most in need. It gives people a place to call home on Christmas Day, with a shared lunch, care packages, haircuts and beauty services, entertainment, and access to community support services.
Since the first event in 1975, over 67,000 meals have been served to people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage on Christmas Day.
At Short Back & Sidewalks we provide haircuts, beauty and grooming services free of charge and free of judgement.
In 2020, we partnered with Mission Australia to give more than 70 haircuts to attendees at the Christmas lunch, as well as offering manicures, braids and temporary spray hair colours.
This year, we’re again partnering with Mission Australia to share the spirit of Christmas and we need the help of Perth’s hairdressers and barbers.
With haircuts, conversations and Christmas cheer, we want to create positive connections to help build a stronger and more inclusive community.
If you’re a hairdresser, barber or beauty services worker and wish to volunteer on Christmas Day, you can sign up here to volunteer for the Mission Australia Christmas Lunch in the Park.
