Hi guys I’m Nic,

I’ve been a volunteer barber for the Sydney team for about 5 years now. I’ve worked on some great projects with SB&SW from manning a post at The Sydney beer & BBQ festival, worked with emerging indigenous artist at Spotify HQ, looking after the in need at Rough Edges Darlinghurst to the amazing Indigenous Arts Festival, Garma in the NT.

It’s hard to pin what my favourite moment has been as I enjoy ever minute of representing SB&SW, I love helping the local community in Sydney. But going to Garma festival was a special time for me. Not being Australian I can’t say I knew much about the Indigenous culture here, and spending time in northeast Arnhem Land really blew me away.

Working with SB&SW gives me the opportunity to give back not only to the local community, but knowing that there are hard working volunteers making a difference all around Australia makes me feel we are working towards something bigger. To some it might just be a hair cut, to others it’s an opportunity to be heard and have someone listen to them. It means I can go back to my shop and talk about issues of others in our area.

To others who are in the hair industry, there is a huge difference your skills and a little of your time can make to those in need in the wider community.
